Michalina Frątczak a graduate of Gdańsk University of Technology won the prize Zbyszek Zawistowski Dyplom Roku 2018 held by the Association of Polish Architects . The winning work was selected from 99 proposals sent from 19 Polish universities.
Award-winning work is titled “On the edge. Expansion and adaptation of the sanctuary and the pilgrim’s house into the place of tranquility. Cape Espichel, Portugal”. This is a project of the expansion and revitalization of a decrepit sanctuary from the 15th century.
“The author reveals the potential of the 15th-century sacral team embedded in the harsh Portuguese landscape as a place that has a chance to restore the lost balance to visitors. It proposes a discreet architecture that reveals the value of what is found and introduces simultaneously what is necessary to sustain the still-smoldering life here “- it was written in the justification.
The prize Zbyszek Zawistowski admits the Association of Polish Architects. This year it was presented for the 54th time.
