Mateusz Zasada, graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering at the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz, took second place in the National Competition of the Association of Chemical Engineers and Technicians for the best diploma thesis in the field of chemistry.
His awarded master’s thesis is “The use of waste polyvinyl butyral (PVB) to modify poly (vinyl chloride)”. The aim was to determine the possibility of using waste PVB film to produce polymer mixtures and polymer-wood composites with a poly (vinyl chloride) matrix and to study their processing, physicomechanical and thermal properties.
PVB was used for the production of polymer mixtures and polymer-wood composites – technological waste from the production of laminated glass in the form of foil scraps. Based on the research results Mateusz Zasada found that PVB can be used to modify poly (vinyl chloride).
