Aleksandra Trybalska, graduate of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, took first place in the final of the national competition of the Association of Polish Mechanics Engineers and Technicians for the best mechanical theses.
The jury awarded her engineering thesis “Assessment of the quality of adhesive joints of knives with cemented carbides in the production process of rubber processing”. She performed tests of adhesive joints, modifying the adhesive with a metal filler (Al powder) and measuring the thermal conductivity of the adhesive and conducting static shear tests. Aleksandra Trybalska used a methacrylic resin-based glue and two types of hardener for the tests.
The aim of the competition is to encourage young engineers to undertake ambitious diploma theses and interest them in topics useful for the country’s economy. This year’s competition was held with support of the Minister of Education and Science. The first two prizes were awarded ex aequo – to Aleksandra Trybalska and Marcin Niebrzydowski from the Poznań University of Technology.
