Dr Eng. Ewa Knapik from the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas from the University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Krakow was awarded the grand prix and two gold medals at the International Warsaw Invention Show IWIS 2023 for her inventions on lithium recovery.

The grand prix and gold medal in the chemical industry category was awarded to AGH for ‘Sorbent for the recovery of lithium from bed brines prepared by 3D printing’, which was developed by a team led by Dr Ewa Knapik, which included Dr Grzegorz Rotko and Igor Dankowski, a student of Geoengineering and Open-pit Mining at the AGH Department of Drilling, Oil and Gas.

The researcher also received a gold medal in the ecology and environmental category for ‘Filter material for pre-treatment of brines from the oil industry prior to lithium recovery’, which she worked on together with student Igor Dankowski.

These are not the only awards for AGH. At the same exhibition, an interdepartmental team of scientists from AGH received a special award and a gold medal for the S4S Science for Society communication platform.
