The Medical University of Wrocław, the University Clinical Hospital and the Wrocław University of Economics have received almost PLN 28 million to establish a Regional Centre for Digital Medicine. The money will make it possible to implement measures to digitise clinical research through the use of patients’ health data. 

The aim of the new unit will be to create a modern IT infrastructure that will enable the integration of medical data, improve the quality and availability of health services and develop research and innovation in the field of digital medicine. 

Within the Centre, data will be collected from several sources, including the IT system of the Clinical Research Support Centre and the Biobank of the Medical University, the hospital system, as well as many others, such as the regional and national network for scientific cooperation in the field of cardiology and rare diseases, including congenital metabolic disorders and type I diabetes, and data from medical equipment used in the hospital and academic units.
