Hieronimki 2018 – celebration of translators at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University

27.09.2018

This Friday, September 28, 2018, the Department of Applied Linguistics at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin invites participants to the fifth celebration of translators – Hieronimki 2018.

The name of the initiative comes from Saint Hieronim, the patron of translators and the author of the first translations of the Bible – explains Aneta Adamska, UMCS press spokesman.

The program of the event includes lectures, language workshops and language contests, meetings with linguistics staff, students and successful graduates in Poland and Europe.

The specifics of the simultaneous interpreters’ work will be experienced during workshops conducted in modern simultaneous translation laboratories, and thanks to the presence of translators-practitioners, participants will learn about the translator’s work in court, during a conference, when translating a film or a literary work.
