A modular pavilion for the Green Gay Foundation, a paper reception desk for the university’s recruitment department, a café on a draisine – these are some of the student projects that are being developed at Wrocław University of Technology during the international ProtoLAB workshop.

ProtoLAB is an interdisciplinary project led by researchers from the faculty of architecture. The form of the classes is taken from the best European universities such as TU Delft and TU Darmstadt. It gives young people the opportunity to go through the entire cycle of creating an architectural form – from coming up with an idea, through project preparation, to its implementation.

The classes have been implemented at the Wrocław university since 2018. So far, they have resulted in the creation of, among others, a pavilion dedicated to Zbigniew Herbert, the Freedom Pavilion, various types of furniture, aid units for refugees and mobile homes of up to 35 sq m in size. All projects are made from ecological materials – mainly paper and wood.
