The University of Maria Curie Skłodowska (UMCS) in Lublin held the inauguration of the academic year 2018/2019 of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program.

The main group of participants of the inauguration were 42 new Kirkland Program scholarship holders and four scholars of the Kirkland Research Program. The students come from eight countries: Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Moldova. They are young leaders operating in their countries within public administration, academic, business, media and politics. The inauguration took place on September 21.

Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is a project of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, whose mission is supporting democratic and free market changes in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
