Researchers from the Bialystok University of Technology (PB) have carried out analysis and endurance testing of an innovative buckle that allows one hand movement to free oneself from jammed seatbelts. The solution was developed by startup HEMAWI.
‘Our product can save more than 50,000 lives a year – that’s how many people die in cars alone as a result of not being able to get out of jammed seatbelts,’ emphasises Mateusz Wisniewski of HEMAWI.
Currently, belt cutters are the only solution used for emergency release. The innovative solution is designed to replace the current buckles, which have remained essentially unchanged for around 50 years.
HEMAWI is a startup from the just-ended 7th incubation cycle in Hub of Talents 2, a project supporting people with an idea for an innovative business, implemented by the Białystok Science and Technology Park.
