More than half of the institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) received the highest category A + or A in a given major – according to the decision of the Minister of Education and Science regarding the evaluation of scientific activity in 2017-2021.
A total of 96 majors were assessed at 69 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology. 61% of them received the highest categories A + or A (17-19% for A + and 40-42% for A, respectively). This is more than the average for the entire country, which is 34% (6% for category A + and 28% for category A).
It is worth noting that as many as 17 units received the A + category in their major. This is a satisfactory result proving the highest quality of research carried out in many of our institutes – said Prof. Paweł Rowiński, vice president of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
