More than PLN 7 million for the maintenance and development of research potential will be awarded to scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and research institutes in connection with the running of doctoral schools. Combined support will be provided to 16 entities, reports the Ministry of Education and Science.

Increases in the amount of subsidies for maintenance and development of research potential were granted to 14 scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and 2 research institutes in connection with running doctoral schools independently or jointly with another entity – as a leading entity. This is intended to support the education of doctoral students in doctoral schools run by the indicated entities in the first years of operation of these schools.

The amount of funding for individual entities was set in proportion to the number of doctoral students in doctoral schools. The largest support was granted to the Marceli Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS (nearly PLN 1.9 million), the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics PAS (nearly PLN 750 000) and the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre PAS (over PLN 550 000).
