The Institute of Modern Languages at the University of Technology and Humanities in Bielsko-Biała invites participants to the third international conference “Shapes of Futures”. The subjects of the conference are issues related to various dimensions, conceptualizations and visions of the future in culture, art, film and literature as well as political and social sciences.

The following topics are scheduled for March 1 and 2: visions of the future and their dynamics; futurism and studies about the future; functions of the future and processes shaping the future (shaping of trends, simulations, modelling, anticipation and planning of the future).
The organizers are also planning a discussion on the politics of time and temporality of politics, relations between the past, present and future, and a block of topics “future and narrative” (narrations and metaphors of the future, science fiction and speculative fiction as catalysts in studies on the future, history of the future).
