From 29 to 31 May 2021, the University of Warsaw (UW) is hosting the International Congress of Spanish History.
Research on Spanish history and culture has been carried out at the UW for many years, and the Congress is the first event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe. It is attended by participants from 14 countries: Algeria, Egypt, France, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, USA, UK and Italy. The congress is organised by the faculties: “Artes Liberales”, History and Neophilology at the University of Warsaw. The event is organised under the auspices of the Spanish Embassy in Poland.
The event will consist of dozens of lectures and talks on the history of Spain, the construction of the concept of the Spanish nation, the processes of democratisation of this country and its influence on international politics, the relations between Poland and Spain throughout history, and finally the perception of Spain in the Polish media.
