A 2.5-year international educational project COMPUSEL has started at the University of Lodz (UŁ), in which researchers from the UŁ Faculty of Education Sciences will try to help students in their social-emotional development. The researchers’ activities will involve primary school teachers and students.
The project has been developed in response to alarming data from Polish and foreign schools regarding the deteriorating emotional condition of pupils and their low resistance to stress, report Dr Karolina Kossakowska and Dr Magdalena Zadworna, from the Institute of Psychology at the University of Łódź, who are working on the project.
An important aspect of the project is to improve the social-emotional development of pupils in the school environment, taking into account the so-called computational thinking. This term is used to describe the thought processes and activities that accompany the formulation of complex, open-ended problems and finding their solutions using a computer.
