Young sailing adepts from Belgium, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary and the United Kingdom learnt the basics of sailing and visited Pomerania as part of the “Poland under sail” project. The Polish children and young people were invited and trained by the “Polish Community” Association with the support of the Naval Academy in Gdynia (AMW) and the Pomeranian Sailing Association.

The accommodation and also the training base were the facilities of the AMW. The young sailors. became acquainted with the specifics of the academy, its extensive teaching facilities and its maritime and sailing traditions, reports the academy.

In addition to the skills necessary for sailing and sailing certificates and patents, the young people developed their character traits – resourcefulness, self-confidence, independence, group cooperation and principles of safe contact with water. In addition, it was a time for integration and getting to know places that are special to Polish tradition, history, symbols of freedom and charters of the Polish Navy closely associated with the coast and the Tricity.
