International research begins on pandemic and the psyche

28.05.2020

Researchers from 22 countries will investigate how pandemics can affect emotions, stress levels, sense of security, and social relations. The Polish team will include Dr Tomasz Komendziński – a cognitive scientist from the faculty of philosophy and social sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and three other scientists.

This international group of scientists has started the research project “Compassion, social connectedness and trauma resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic: A multi-national study”. The result of research and analysis of results will be a report in a specialized high-ranking scientific journal.

– The project assumes that around 400 people will be examined in each country. In Poland, we will cooperate with the National Institute of Senior Economy, because seniors are at significant risk during the coronavirus pandemic – says Dr Komendziński.
