The soft magnetic core of a brushless DC electric motor with low-power permanent magnets developed by the researchers from Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals won the gold medal at ITM Industry Europe 2021 in Poznań. The exhibition stand of the Łukasiewicz Institute was also awarded at the fair.
The invention developed by the Institute ensures the lowest possible power losses, with small dimensions and light weight. The solution can be used in modern devices in which the miniaturization of the drive system and energy efficiency may play an important role.
An example of use can be flying objects as drones. The developed cores can also be used in engines that should maintain low operating temperature of the drive system. Thanks to much lower power losses in the stator’s hybrid core, the operating temperature of the entire engine will drop significantly.
