07.12.2020

The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland has issued a decision on granting a patent to scientists of the University of Gdańsk for solution “The method and automatic device for continuous, non-invasive measurement of surface energy of solids permanently immersed in liquids”. It can be used in dental prosthetics and selected research laboratories.

An automatic device for measuring the surface energy of solids permanently immersed in liquids enables the determination of the amount of surface free energy fundamental for the efficiency of the coating process of solids -.

In the method of Gdańsk scientists, the surface of the tested solid remains immersed and is not removed in order to measure dynamic contact angles, as is the case with all classical methods. Possible applications of the invention include dental prosthetics, biofilms of microorganisms, teams examining the condition of anti-corrosion layers and research laboratories.
