Jagiellonian University establishes Regional Expert Centre for Education for Sustainable Development South Poland established

The Regional Expert Centre for Education for Sustainable Development Southern Poland (RCE PP) was inaugurated at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow. 

Founding members of RCE PP, in addition to the Jagiellonian University, are the AGH University of Science and Technology, the Cracow University of Technology, the Agricultural University of Cracow, the Silesian University of Technology, the University of Silesia, the University of Opole, as well as schools, NGOs and other institutions working in the field of sustainable development issues in the provinces of Malopolska, Silesia and Opole.

The Regional Expert Centres on Education for Sustainable Development are certified by the Institute of Advanced Studies on Sustainable Development at the United Nations University in Tokyo (IAS-UNU). The network currently comprises more than 180 entities from 60 countries. These include educational institutions, local government institutions, national parks, research centres, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and others working for sustainable development in the region.
