Jagiellonian University in Krakow to hold a conference on the development of European citizenship

On January 22, 2021 the Department of Politics and Culture of the Mediterranean Countries of the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow is organizing an international scientific conference “Shaping European citizenship in post-totalitarian societies. Reflections 15 years after the enlargement of the European Union”.

The conference is the result of a project implemented at the Institute of European Studies as part of the Europe for Citizens program.

The event will focus on the following topics: Transition from undemocratic systems (totalitarian and authoritarian) to democracy; Shaping civil society in post-totalitarian societies; Changes that took place in Central and Eastern Europe before and after the 2004 enlargement with particular emphasis on the issue of national and European identity; The memory of totalitarianisms in post-totalitarian states (comparative perspective).
