Jan and Piotr Kochanowski Institute for Renaissance and Baroque Studies established

The Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, has established the Jan and Piotr Kochanowski Institute for Research into the Renaissance and Baroque, which aims to ‘popularise the cultural heritage of the First Republic of Poland, including the dissemination of scientific research in this field and support for the study of Old Polish culture’.

The new institution will also support the integration of ‘the national and international scholarly community dealing with Old Polish culture, especially Renaissance and Baroque literature and culture’.

Its tasks will also include maintaining and developing databases related to the subject of the Institute’s activity, and “supporting the Zamość Academy in conducting scientific research in the history of Polish literature and pedagogy, as well as educational and cultural activities related to the subject of the Institute’s activity”.
