Senators of the Jan Długosz University of Humanities and Sciences in Częstochowa have unanimously adopted a resolution to change the name of the University to “Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa”. 

By changing the name from the so-called “adjectival” university to “classical”, the University has a chance to join the group of the most important universities in Poland. The final decision in this matter now rests with the Minister of Education and Science, through whom the relevant proposal will be submitted to the Polish Sejm, and after a positive vote will be submitted for the signature of the President of the Republic of Poland.

The decision was influenced by the fact that the university’s units were awarded scientific categories A+, A or B+ in the summer of 2022 in at least six scientific or artistic disciplines containing at least three fields of science or art. As a result of the evaluation carried out by the Ministry of Education and Science, and taking into account the appeals, 6 disciplines were awarded category A, 7 disciplines B+.
