Representatives of local, self-government and rector authorities as well as employees of the Katowice – City of Science Academic Consortium participated in the Dutch Leiden ceremony in the ceremony of handing over to Katowice the title and symbolic keys of the European City of Science 2024.
The benefits of awarding Katowice with the title of the European City of Science include: the possibility of arousing interest in the region among representatives of science, business and the media from around the world, strengthening the possibility of obtaining funds for the implementation of scientific and research goals and increasing the involvement of residents in solving local problems.
The Consortium of the European City of Science 2024 consists of the Academy of Music in Katowice, Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Silesian University of Technology, Medical University of Silesia, University of Economics in Katowice, University of Silesia and the City of Katowice.
