Built in the 1950s, the “Khrushchev Villa” – designed specifically for the visit of the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, will again serve young patients. The historic building will house the Centre for Paediatric and Oncological Physiotherapy of the Silesian Medical University.

The entire investment will be housed in two separate facilities. One is planned to house the Department of Physiotherapy and the Department of Kinesitherapy and Special Methods, while the other will house the Department of Physical Medicine together with the Department of Balneoclimatology and Biological Regeneration.

The villa was specially designed on the occasion of Nikita Khrushchev’s visit to Katowice. However, due to the threat of an assassination attempt, his visit was cancelled. From the 1970s until 1995, the villa housed the Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic. After its relocation to new premises, the building, located in the forest, began to deteriorate.
