Scientists from the Kielce University of Technology are working on the technology of pitting cherries. As a result, they will develop a device that will improve production and minimize damage to the fruit. This is a complete novelty on world markets. The Kielce university signed an agreement on co-financing the project with the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARiMR).
For now, scientists do not want to reveal the details of the project. It is known that thanks to the machine the seeds will be removed from the fruit with minimal disturbance to its structure. This will allow the use of cherries in the drying or raisinizing process. Works on the project are supervised by Dr Łukasz Nowakowski, Faculty of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering of the Kielce University of Technology.
The project is part of the process of mechanization of Polish agriculture. Poland is a leader in the production of cherries on the European market.
Such projects will ease the transfer of knowledge, the transfer of innovation and new technologies and science to the agriculture. As a result, a specialized, innovative product will be created – said Tomasz Kuśnierek, vice-president of ARiMR.
