Higher quality of zinc coatings will be ensured by the implementation of the results of a joint research project carried out by a consortium composed of: Koszalin University of Technology, Holding-Zremb Gorzów SA and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals in Gliwice.
Coating steel products with zinc coatings is one of the most common methods of preventing corrosion, which extends the service life of steel structures.
Until recently, one of the main shortcomings of galvanizing technology was the fact that during immersion and emergence from the zinc bath some elements were covered with a zinc layer, blocking structural holes and recesses. The zinc layer had a non-uniform thickness.
The innovation that is the essence of the project will help to eliminate this problem. The method consists in introducing forced vibrations into the galvanizing process. In this way, it will be possible to prevent depositing of too large protective layers on the galvanized surfaces.
