Koszalin University of Technology to launch Rapid Prototyping Center

26.06.2020

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Koszalin University of Technology is launching Rapid Prototyping Center, enabling research in the field of incremental technology for manufacturing machine parts from metal powders.

The total cost of the “Rapid Prototyping Center” project is almost PLN 3.6 million. Nearly 2.2 million PLN will be allocated by the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Program of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The project resulted in the creation of a modern research and implementation center enabling research in the field of incremental techniques, modeling and simulation of deformation mechanisms and processes, comprehensive strength tests and reverse engineering using a 3D laser scanner.

Incremental technology was initially used in the space and aerospace industry. Today it is increasingly used in the automotive industry and in the production of equipment and materials used in the medical industry.
