Researchers at the Koszalin University of Technology are working on technology for the construction of multi-family houses from modules. They are collaborating on this with WascoVilla from Kanin near Slawno, a company that has specialised in the design and installation of timber structures in various buildings for almost 20 years.
The task of the Koszalin researchers is to design a structural connection system for a multi-storey wooden building. In the first stage, they designed three types of connectors, pre-tested them and carried out a numerical analysis. The connectors are suitably shaped flat steel bars attached with screws to the wooden structure.
In the final stage of the project, a full-size building consisting of 27 residential modules and nine rooftop units will be constructed on the WascoVilla site. The building will undergo comprehensive observations. The idea is to see if the object deforms under changing weather conditions.
