Members of the NewTech Student Science Club operating at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow will develop a manned aircraft – The Smaller One.

The ship will be developed on the basis of a large-size drone and will be able to carry a person or load weighing up to 100 kg and reach speeds of up to 60 km /h. The students received a strategic grant from the rector of AGH UST for the project.

Students have already made engine tests in laboratory and started the engine and the propeller at 75% of the power. They are currently designing a dedicated control interface that will be a hybrid of standard control systems used in drones and helicopters. The improved version of the system will allow the pilot to control the ship more intuitively.

The strategic rector’s grant in the amount of PLN 46 851 will be allocated to the implementation and integration of the control interface and the expansion of the power supply system.
