Leopold Unger Scholarship

The call for applications for the 11th Leopold Unger Scholarship will run until 31 May 2023. This nationwide scholarship programme is aimed at young journalists and adepts of journalism – students of all faculties and degrees up to the age of 35.

Scholarships are available in the form of a cash prize of PLN 5 000 for a journalistic piece meeting the criteria for serious journalism (this applies to works published in the last calendar year as well as those completed but previously unpublished) and scholarships in the form of internships: at the editorial office of the Belgian daily Le Soir in Brussels, at the editorial office of the daily Gazeta Wyborcza in Warsaw, at the editorial office of the weekly Polityka in Warsaw and at the press office of the Economic Forum in Warsaw.

The Leopold Unger Scholarship is a regular scholarship programme initiated by the patron’s family and launched in 2013 by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. To date, 54 Laureates have been selected.
