16.03.2021

The book “Jaśmin Bereza” by Dr Karolina Jaklewicz, Department of Architecture and Visual Arts of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, was included in the list of titles qualified for this year’s Angelus 2021 Central European Literary Award. This is the literary debut of the Wrocław artist and scientist.

The title character, Jaśmina, is a chemist working in a laboratory in a hospital. She has grown up children, is divorced and has a relationship with a new partner. The author will put her before many very difficult choices, and the reader will accompany Jasmine in making these decisions, as well as in discovering family secrets.

Angelus is awarded by the City of Wrocław. The award is a direct reference to the centuries-old traditions of Wrocław as a city of meetings and dialogue. It is awarded to writers from Central Europe who take up in their works the most important topics for the present day, reflecting and deepening their knowledge about the world.
