Enterprises from the IT industry and Lodz universities belonging to ICT Central Poland Cluster have started a new educational program called “What is this math for?”, The purpose of which is to show students and pupils solutions based directly on specific areas of mathematics.
– On the examples of projects and solutions used in Lodz IT companies, we will present a series of videos devoted to the practical side of the queen of sciences. We hope that it will change the perception of mathematics among young people and encourage them to learn this subject – said Prof. Paweł Strumiłło, vice-rector for development of the Lodz University of Technology and chairman of the cluster council. We want to make them aware that the application of mathematics in the professional life of engineers or programmers is very wide, and it develops logical and abstract thinking – he added.
The first video was created in cooperation with Lodz University of Technology and Harman company, a leader in the field of innovative audio solutions. LUT students and engineers from Harman showed that the applications of mathematics are necessary in car audio projects carried out by the Łódź branch of the company for Mercedes or BMW.
