The project by Natalia Dembinska, a student at the Technical University of Łódź (Politechnika Łódzka), was recognised among the top 40 in the global architectural competition ‘Beyond Isolation: Senior Housing’ organised by Buildner.
The competition aimed to design innovative housing solutions that would eliminate the problem of isolation experienced by ageing populations.
Natalia Dembińska submitted a design for the Senior Citizen’s House in Łódź for the competition. As the author explains, the resulting volume is a combination of modernity and tradition. “The basis for shaping the design was to imitate a housing estate, while preserving the form of a single building. The creation of a community is crucial in the case of seniors’ homes and spaces shaped for this age group. The designed object is intended to make this possible”, she explained.
Natalia Dembińska is a second-year architecture student at the Faculty of Construction, Architecture and Environmental Engineering. She gained design experience during internships abroad in France and Spain.
