Lodz University of Technology succeeds in the World Robot Summit finals

14.10.2021

The team of robotics students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation of the Lodz University of Technology has once again achieved international success. They took third place in the grand final of the World Robot Summit in Japan.

The students participating in the competition say, that each team had to perform an inspection and rescue task scenario other than in the qualifying rounds.

The competition was a strict simulation of activities on the site of the irradiated power plant in Fukushima. The machine was given a new task and had to do it itself, quickly and without failure.

-This is an inspection and rescue competition where robots, including drones, have to perform an inspection task. They have to check that everything is working well, they are looking for faults in the infrastructure. If there are any, they are reported and then teams can fix them. During the competition, we cannot correct anything in the robot, change its configuration – said Mateusz Kujawiński, the co-creator of the robot.
