31.12.2021

Exactly 15 years ago, the website of the Lower Silesian Digital Library was launched, containing at the beginning only 300 publications in its database; now users have access to nearly 90,000 digital objects including valuable historical documents and contemporary publications.

The collection includes doctoral dissertations, magazines and books published at the university, as well as a large collection of valuable archival library materials from 19th and 20th-century scientific periodicals, old prints, scientific books from various fields of technology or regional materials. Most of these collections come from the resources of the former Technische Hochschule Breslau.

The Consortium of the Lower Silesian Digital Library (DBC) was established in December 2006. The initiative to establish DBC was initiated by the Ossolineum and the Wrocław University of Technology that remains a project coordinator. Also, the digital library servers are located in the Wrocław Network and Supercomputing Center.
