Four scientists from Lublin have been selected as new members of the European Academy of Science and Art (EASA), a prestigious international organization of international experts in science, art and religion.
The awards were given to professors of the Lublin University of Technology and the University of Life Sciences in Lublin: Rector of the Lublin University of Technology, Prof. Eng. Zbigniew Pater; Rector of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Prof. Krzysztof Kowalczyk; Vice-rector for science, Prof. Eng. Wojciech Franus, Lublin University of Technology; Prof. Małgorzata Krystyna Pawłowska, Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Lublin University of Technology.
The European Academy of Sciences and Arts was established in 1990 by the member states of the European Communities as an international non-governmental organization. EASA is headquartered in Salzburg, Austria.
The members of the Academy include over 2,000 outstanding scientists and artists from all over Europe, including 31 Nobel laureates.
The members of EASA from Poland are: Prof. Jerzy Buzek, Prof. Andrzej Zoll and Prof. Lucjan Pawłowski. In 2015, the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Michał Kleiber became a deputy president of EASA.
