Lublin scientists receive awards of the Polish Chamber of Ecology

Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin and the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute received the prestigious Ecolaurel of the Polish Chamber of Ecology. The competition promotes the most effective and eco-innovative activities and works undertaken to protect the environment.

In the category of “Nature protection and increasing biodiversity”, Ecolaurel was obtained by scientists of the Faculty of Environmental Biology of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin: Dr Magdalena Pogorzelec, (project manager), dr Barbara Banach, Dr Agnieszka Szczurowska, Dr Barbara Hawrylak-Nowak and Dr Michał Niedźwiecki, who implemented the project “Restitution of particularly endangered relict plant species of the Salicaceae family in peat bog habitats”.

In the category of “Protection of the earth’s surface, waste management”, the winner is the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute, which in 2019 completed a long-term task of developing an update and modernization of the Geo-environmental Map of Poland in the scale of 1: 50,000.
