The Polish Patent Office has published its 2021 Report, which includes a ranking of entities with the highest number of granted patents last year. Lublin University of Technology took first place with 136 patents granted, followed by Łódź University of Technology with 121 patents and the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław with 118 patents. 

Further places in the ranking were taken by the Polytechnics of: Silesia (116), Warsaw (106) and Wrocław (102 patents). The highest ranking outside of universities, at 14th place, was awarded to the Oil and Gas Institute – National Research Institute with 39 patents.

The ranking included 17 technical universities, 9 classical universities, 5 natural/agricultural universities and 5 medical universities. The nearly 50 entities also included 4 institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, 3 state research institutes and 3 institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
