Maria Opłatek’s engineering diploma: Cinema of the Future in Łódź appreciated in an international competition

07.04.2021

Maria Opłatek’s engineering diploma presented at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology was awarded in the international competition of the UNI platform. A student of the Faculty of Architecture prepared the project “Non Gramme” – a detailed concept of the cinema of the future, using the latest technologies and trends.

The Cinema Futurismo competition searched for cinema projects that could delight viewers with technology and architecture in ten years’ time. The UNI internet platform will bring together over 150,000 of the world architects and designers.

The building designed by a student from Wrocław would be a built-in premise that would complement the buildings in the downtown of Łódź. The cinema building would have five floors, including one underground, and measure less than 18 m. It would accommodate 75 viewers and give the possibility of a holistic experience of films. The author designed the cinema to resemble a film frame (consisting of sets) so that the user entering the building would be deeper and deeper in the film structure.
