The Medical University of Gdańsk was rated among the 5.5 percent the best universities in the world according to the Global 2000 List by the Center for World University Rankings. The list describes in detail 2 thousand world best universities out of 19,788 (including 40 Polish) included in the list by the authors. The university in Gdańsk was ranked 1087 overall, 409 in Europe and 15th in Poland. 

The Global 2000 List by the Center for World University Rankings is created taking into account both the teaching and research activities.

The overall sum of ranking points consists of the results in individual categories. These are i.a. quality of education calculated as the number of graduates who won significant awards and distinctions per university size and employment of graduates, calculated as the number of graduates holding high positions in large enterprises per university size.
