Medical University of Gdansk to launch first Polish faculty for use of 3D printing in medicine

16.03.2020

Researchers from the Chair and Clinic of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Defects of the Medical University of Gdansk (GUMed) initiated a unique faculty of 3D Prints in Medicine – application and methods of production.

– To our knowledge, no other medical university in Poland offers (compulsory or optional) classes about the application of 3D printing technology in medicine – says Dr Robert Sabiniewicz, Prof. of GUMed.

The faculty program was created for future doctors in order to give them both the broadest possible view of the possibilities offered by this technology, as well as practical skills allowing to create future models themselves.
During the seminar, students learned about the application of 3D printing technology in various medicine specialties. During the workshop classes with computer printers and printouts, future doctors learned about the various stages of creating models.
