Medical University of Wroclaw to receive almost 9.5 million for pancreatic cancer research

Researchers of the Medical University of Wrocław, led by Prof. Wojciech Kielan, obtained almost PLN 9.5 million for research activities in the field of oncology. The co-financed project concerns research into pancreatic cancer.

A prestigious grant from the Medical Research Agency was awarded to Wrocław scientists as part of the third competition for research and development activities in the field of non-commercial clinical trials. The project of Prof. Wojciech Kielan deals with the impact of irreversible calcium electroporation, electrochemotherapy and electroporation (IRE-CaCl2, ECT and IRE) on the quality of life and progression-free survival in pancreatic cancer patients.

According to the Medical Research Agency, 51 applications with a total value of over PLN 570 million were submitted during the third part of the competition. The largest number of applications concerned research in the field of cardiology and oncology. The Agency selected 29 applications that were submitted for further substantive evaluation.
