On January 14, 2021, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN) signed the contract on the financing of the experiment and the GLOWS instrument, which the CBK PAN is preparing in cooperation with NASA, Princeton University and a number of the world’s most important universities and research institutes.
The Ministry of Education and Science will allocate PLN 16 million (2021–2026) for the construction of the instrument and the GLOWS (GLObal solar Wind Structure) experiment. GLOWS is part of a comprehensive NASA research mission called IMAP (Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe). Its aim is to better recognize the heliosphere and its reactions with the Sun’s closest galactic vicinity, as well as to study the processes of accelerating cosmic ray particles.
