In the Wielkopolska Center of Advanced Technologies in Poznań Animal Laboratory was launched. It is one of the most modern facilities in Poland that creates opportunities for in vivo and in vitro research in biomedical sciences, with particular emphasis on pharmacology, toxicology, oncology and pathophysiology.
The facility is housed in a building adapted to SPF (Specified Pathogen Free) animals and transgenic animals. It is equipped with a continuous and emergency ventilation system with three types of filters, pass-through autoclaves, automatic washers and locks with air shower for staff, as well as imaging equipment in vivo, computer tomographs, analytical and histological laboratories.
The Animal Laboratory enables the molecular and physiological examination of pathomechanisms of human diseases (infectious, cancerous, genetically determined) with the use of appropriate animal models.
