According to the latest data of the Central Statistical Office, in the past academic year, Polish universities have recorded an increase in the number of foreign students.
As data show in the academic year 2017/2018, 72.743 foreign students studied in Poland, which is 6,950 more than in the previous year. This gives an increase of 10.56 percent within one academic year. This, in turn, reflects the dynamics of the process of internationalization of higher education in Poland.
The majority of foreigners came from European countries, including more than half (37.8 thousand, or 52.0 percent) from Ukraine. The second group in terms of numbers were students from Belarus (6.0 thousand – 8.3 percent) and from India (3.0 thousand – 4.1 percent). 63.8 thousand foreigners, or 87.8 percent have taken full-time studies. Almost one third of all foreigners (22.2 thousand) chose schools in the Mazowieckie voivodeship.
