The Koszalin University of Technology together with the foundation “Science for the Environment” is preparing multimedia litter bins, which will make sounds after throwing in the rubbish. They may say “thank you”, “put the paper in here”, “put the plastic in here”, and in the future, they will also signal that they should be emptied.
Specialists from the Department of Production Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Koszalin University of Technology have developed a design of a small module with an integrated loudspeaker, sensor and power supply. The module is equipped with a memory card on which you can upload a selected message in MP3 format. When, for example, a bottle is thrown into a container, the sensor detects movement and activates the loudspeaker. Thanks to this, the person who used the trash can hear the message.
At the beginning, multimedia litter bins will go to kindergartens to teach children ecological behavior through play from an early age. In the future, the baskets will be placed in the most frequented places.
