Museum in Koszalin to launch Experimental exhibition “Touch archeology”

08.01.2020

Until February 16, the Museum in Koszalin is inviting viewers to exhibition of the copies of the monuments made thanks to the 3D scanning technology and 3D printing. The exhibition is the result of this institution’s cooperation with the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Koszalin University of Technology.

The experimental exhibition “Touch archeology” aims to realize the needs of the visually impaired and blind persons with conservation requirements and the nature of archaeological monuments. Thanks to the use of three-dimensional scanning and 3D printing, replicas of monuments closed in display cases have been made and displayed on a daily basis.

Copies of the monuments were printed in dimensions similar to the original. The replicas are white and are presented on contrasting dark displays, which were consulted with representatives of the Polish Blind Association and proved to be a good choice. The attached descriptions have also been prepared for the visually impaired guests.
