The National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) has completed the 12th competition under the LEADER program. The aim of the program is to expand the competences of young scientists in independent planning, management and management of their own research teams during the implementation of innovative research projects.

56 projects were recommended for co-financing for a total amount of PLN 80.67 million. The project of Jakub Kupiecki from the Institute of Energy – Research Institute, aimed at developing an innovative solid oxide electrolyser (SOE) produced with low-cost production techniques as a key element of modern energy storage systems based on the power-to-gas concept, scored the highest number of points.

LEADER is the longest-running NCBR program, and application processes have been conducted since 2009. Until this year, eleven competitions were held, as a result of which 439 young scientists – leaders in their fields, received over PLN 511 million for their own research projects. The average grant value in the program is PLN 1.2 million.
