National Science Centre settles grant competition for young scientists from Ukraine

Twenty-two students and early-career scientists from Ukraine will be able to continue their education and research in Poland. The National Science Centre (NCN) has settled a scholarship competition addressed to students and pre-doctoral fellows seeking refuge in our country, funded by Norwegian and EEA funds.

Scholarships will be awarded to 15 aspiring female and seven male researchers from 14 different universities and research institutions. Before the war, they studied or conducted research mainly in Kyiv and Kharkiv. They will continue their studies and prepare their master’s theses or doctoral theses at 16 centres including Warsaw, Poznań, Lublin, Rzeszów, Szczecin and Olsztyn.

Among the laureates, the most numerous group is made up of people working in the field of knowledge of the past – history, archaeology, ethnology and cultural anthropology.

Scholarships last from six to 12 months. The maximum amount of funding that could be applied for in this competition is PLN 5 000 per month for one student or researcher.
