The National Centre for Synchrotron Radiation SOLARIS in Krakow hosted the official opening ceremony of the POLYX research line for X-ray microimaging and microspectroscopy in the energy range 4-15 keV. It allows imaging of the structure (2D and 3D), elemental composition and chemical phases in the samples studied.

The infrastructure was developed through close collaboration between scientists from Jagiellonian University, the AGH University of Science and Technology and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

“The line is unique; it is the first X-ray beam to come out of the SOLARIS ring from a vacuum and can be used to carry out tests in air. I sent the first email with the concept of building the line in December 2016, and the final station was commissioned in September 2023, and we continue to work on improving it”, s
